Villa Ljiljana – Conversion of a Historic Villa into a Boutique Hotel

This project involves the complete conversion and interior design of a 1920s historic villa in Vinkovci, transformed into a boutique hotel that blends local history with contemporary comfort. The concept is deeply rooted in themes connected to Vinkovci, the Slavonian plain, the surrounding fields, and the Orion constellation, which appears on the oldest European calendar discovered in this very city.

The colour palette is thoughtfully divided by floors, creating distinct atmospheres in harmony with location and natural light levels. Rooms in the basement, with limited daylight, are designed in warm earthy shades and muted dusty pink tones, creating an intimate and serene ambiance. On the ground floor, where high ceilings and large windows flood the interiors with light, green and gold dominate – symbolising the fertile fields and vast horizons of the Slavonian plain. The attic rooms are finished in deep midnight blue tones, evoking the night sky and the Orion constellation.

In addition to guest rooms, the ground floor houses a grand entrance hall with a mirrored reception desk, visually expanding the space and enhancing its elegance, as well as a buffet restaurant with access to an outdoor terrace. The hotel’s interiors combine elements reminiscent of old Slavonian manor houses – decorative wall panelling, refined upholstered details, and rich materials – with modern lines and functional solutions, creating spaces equally suited for relaxation, work, and social gatherings.

Today, Villa Ljiljana is designed as a place where historical heritage, local identity, and contemporary luxury meet to offer a truly unique hotel experience.
