Residential Buildings at the Eastern Entrance to Samobor

Two projects, each consisting of two semi-detached residential buildings, form a coherent urban ensemble at the eastern gateway to Samobor. With their pure geometry and simple architectural expression, the buildings clearly mark the end of the residential development zone on the city’s edge, while their green roofs create a natural link to the rich landscape of the Samobor hills rising behind them. The complex consists of six apartments: four spacious three-bedroom duplex units and two one-bedroom apartments. Duplex units are designed so that the main living areas – living room, dining, kitchen, and master bedroom with en-suite bathroom – always connect directly to outdoor spaces. Two apartments are located on the ground floor, each with a private garden adjoining the living area. The upper floor accommodates two bedrooms, a bathroom, and a laundry room. The other two duplexes are entered from the first floor, where the two bedrooms, bathroom, and laundry are located, while the upper floor houses the living spaces and master suite opening onto large terraces with green roofs and panoramic views of Samobor and the surrounding hills.

One-bedroom apartments are positioned on the first floor, providing compact and quiet living units.

Although based on the same concept, all apartments feature different layouts, carefully adapted to maximize orientation, privacy, and the relationship with neighboring units and outdoor areas.

The larger units are equipped with garages on the ground floor, directly connected to the apartments, while separate entrances to the duplexes provide additional privacy. This design offers residents the experience of living in a house within a multi-residential building, considered a form of contemporary urban luxury. The recessed top floor is designed as a distinctive volume, adding dynamism to the façades. Terraces are conceived as walkable, partially covered outdoor spaces, while green roofs enhance the natural character of the architecture and connect it to the surrounding landscape. Smooth white façades contrast with dark window frames and recessed loggias, creating a clear and contemporary appearance.

Architecture transforms through the seasons – from lush ornamental grasses in summer and autumn, to refined sculptural forms under frost in winter. From the upper floors, wide vistas open onto the surrounding greenery and the Samobor hills, giving residents a strong sense of connection to nature
