Residential Complex Luxor

Two semi-attached residential buildings form an architectural whole shaped in the footprint of the letter L. The dense surrounding context defined the concept of a building that turns inward – the creation of two atriums breaks up the internal mass while providing privacy and intimacy to the apartments and their outdoor spaces.

The ground floor is designed as a semi-public space with covered arcades. These passages allow for parking, access to garages, and communal gatherings, while at the same time creating semi-open ambiences that connect the inner courtyards with the neighborhood. Dark ceilings in contrast to white walls emphasize the depth of the passages and create a sense of spatial clarity.

On the upper floors, the volume is fractured and opened towards the atriums and the street. Recessed loggias and large covered terraces provide private outdoor areas protected from views and overheating, while the rhythm of narrow window openings creates a balanced relationship between solid and void on the façade. Pergolas and cut-out openings on the upper levels introduce a play of light and shadow, adding further dynamism to the architecture.

The materiality and façade design are based on minimalism and contrast – the dominant white surfaces are highlighted with black details on window frames, shading elements, and structural features. This simple graphic expression gives the building a contemporary and recognizable character.

The architectural solution balances the private and the communal, opening the apartments towards the internal atriums while shielding them from the unfavorable external surroundings
