Holiday House in Vrsi

Located within the dense fabric of family houses in the settlement of Vrsi, this rental house is designed to turn inward, focusing on itself rather than the surrounding parcels. Instead of opening to the neighborhood, the spaces are organized around a series of internal courtyards and greenery that is drawn into the heart of the house.

The architectural massing is broken into three smaller volumes, following the scale and rhythm of the existing low-rise development. The ground floor accommodates the shared living spaces – living room, dining area, and kitchen – which open toward the courtyards and swimming pool, creating a fluid relationship between interior and exterior. Some of the bedrooms on the ground floor face the inner courtyards, ensuring maximum privacy.

On the upper levels, the bedrooms capture carefully framed views of the sea, positioned between the surrounding houses. In this way, the house connects the intimacy of its interiors with the distant Mediterranean landscape.

The exterior appearance is defined by simple volumes with gently sloping roof planes, adding a sense of dynamism while allowing the house to integrate harmoniously into the context of low family houses. Facades in warm earthy tones emphasize the connection with the Mediterranean setting, while large glazed openings open the interiors to the courtyards and pool. The interplay of solid walls and windows of varying sizes creates a dialogue of fullness and void, giving the house a contemporary yet unobtrusive character.
